Baramati has a rich cultural heritage. The famous Kashivishweshwar temple on the western bank of Karaha river was constructed during 800 B.C. ,and the famous poet Sridhar who wrote Shivleelamrut a holy scripture belongs to this city.
Baramati was under Yadav's rule, which was later taken over by Bahamani rulers. The famous Babuji Naik constructed the Sidheshwara temple whose reference is observed in the poems written by Great poet Moropant one of famous poet of Maharashtra.Such great poet also belongs to Baramati.There are many more religious temples in and around Baramati.
Today's famous political and social leader Sri Sharadchandraji Pawar who was born here, is working diligently for the development of Baramati. Thanks to him and his team, Baramati has now attained a place on the international map. |
