HISTORY OF BARAMATI:

Baramati has a rich cultural heritage. The famous Kashivishweshwar temple on the western bank of Karaha river was constructed during 800 B.C. ,and the famous poet Sridhar who wrote Shivleelamrut a holy scripture belongs to this city.

Baramati was under Yadav's rule, which was later taken over by Bahamani rulers. The famous Babuji Naik constructed the Sidheshwara temple whose reference is observed in the poems written by Great poet Moropant one of famous poet of Maharashtra.Such great poet also belongs to Baramati.There are many more religious temples in and around Baramati.

Today's famous political and social leader Sri Sharadchandraji Pawar who was born here, is working diligently for the development of Baramati. Thanks to him and his team, Baramati has now attained a place on the international map.

Attractions and Places to Visit in Baramati

Vidya Pratishthan Museum One of the best places to visit. It's part of Vidya Pratishthan's campus located in Vidyanagari, MIDC about 5KMs from Bhigwan Chowk.

Vidyanagari A sprawling campus of 130 acres. If you a visitor this place is a must see. This is one of the biggest IT Institutes in India . It has got a world class IT Infrastructure.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Shardanagar: Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district wise transfer of technology project of the Indian council of Agricultural research, New Delhi . This KVK was established in August 1992 at Agricultural Development Trust. Pune district, the area of operation of this KVK, comes under the Western Maharashtra dry Zone.

Shri Siddheshwar Mandir: This is located 2 KMs from Bhigwan Chowk in Siddheshwar Galli.

Ganesh Mandir: About 4 KMs from Bhigwan Chowk. Many people in Baramati prefer to take morning and evening walk from Railway Station to this place. Reasons are obvious. Fresh air and less traffic in the mornings.
